Bobby Seale co-founded The Black Panther Party with Huey Newton in 1966, heavily impacted by the word and teachings of Malcolm X. Although often supporting the gun-toting image of the party, Seale frequently stressed that he viewed violence as a last resort, a final strategy included in the "Any Means Necessary" policy adopted from Malcolm X.
Like his co-founder, Seale was a controversial leader. He too was involved and suspected in several murder cases, including that of party member Fred Bennett. Seale was convicted of murder after allegedly ordering the killing of a party member who confessed to being a police informant, but was later acquitted of all charges. |
